Zaatar lover - this one’s for you!

A bread that is the best vehicle to any dips or that can be enjoyed on its own because it’s that good!!

bread

Dough:

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 tsp yeast

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 3/4 cup warm water

Za’atar oil:

  • 1/4 cup fresh za’atar

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In the bowl of an electric stand mixer, fitted with a hook, combine all the ingredients. Make sure not to place the salt directly over the yeast.

  2. Let the dough knead in the mixer for about 5 minutes. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky.

  3. Transfer the dough to a clean working surface. Knead for another 30 seconds then transfer to a bowl covered with a towel and let it rest in a warm area until it doubles in size.

  4. Once doubled, preheat oven to 475 F with an upside down baking sheet in the oven.

  5. Separate the dough in 3 equal parts. Gently pull one dough ball in a circle then place the circle on a surface and roll out using a rolling pin.

  6. Repeat for all 3 dough balls and place them on a parchment paper.

  7. Mix your za’atar oil together and separate it equally between your 3 flatbread. Spread it all over the dough.

  8. Take out the baking sheet from the preheated oven and transfer the parchment paper on it. Return to the oven and bake for 9-10 minutes.
